Children's Necklaces Sold Exclusively at Accessories Palace Recalled by United Imports Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: Children's Mood Necklaces

Units: About 3,600

Importer: United Imports Inc., of Flushing, N.Y.

Hazard: The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled necklaces are multi-colored pendants shaped as hearts, crosses, moons, feet, stars, dolphins, shamrocks, teardrops, spiders, flip-flop sandals and butterflies that hang from a black cord. "Mood Necklace" is printed on the front of the packaging and Item #AP-R428 is printed on a sticker on the back of the packaging.

Sold exclusively at: Accessories Palace in Lake Worth, Fla., and the Accessories Palace Web site, www.accessoriespalace.com, from September 2006 through February 2007 for about $1.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children. Consumers should return the recalled jewelry to the Accessories Palace store for a full refund. If unable to return it to the store or if purchased through the Web site, contact United Imports Inc. for information on how to receive a full refund.
