The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Tropitone Impressions Side Chair (including replacement units recently issued to customers)
Units: About 950
Distributor/Importer: Tropitone, of Irvine, Calif.
Hazard: The weld which holds the rear chair leg to the seat can separate from the seat, causing the chair to become unstable and possibly collapse.
Incidents/Injuries: Tropitone has received three reports of the chair seat and rear leg separating. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The Tropitone Impressions Side Chair is an armless chair that can be used indoors or outdoors and comes in any one of three seat types (strap, patterned aluminum and a tight seat) and three back styles (boulevard, prism and vision). The chairs are available in multiple finishes. Replacement versions of these chairs are also included in this recall.
Sold by: Tropitone Furniture distributed this side chair primarily to commercial establishments such as hotels, and also some retailers and distributors from October 2004 through March 17, 2006.
Manufactured In: China with some assembly in the U.S.
Remedy: Individuals and commercial establishments that have the recalled chairs should stop using the chairs immediately and contact Tropitone for a free replacement chair or a credit.
