Infant Cargo Skirts Recalled by Associated Merchandising Corp.

PRODUCT: Infant Cargo Skirts - The Associated Merchandising Corp. (AMC) of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling 9,500 infant girls' cargo skirts. The cargo skirts are made of either 100 percent cotton khaki twill or 100 percent denim, and have an attached panty. They are sold in sizes 12, 18 and 24 months. The khaki style skirt's inside label reads "Baby You're it!" or "Bebe by Cradlecraft" and "MADE IN SRI LANKA." The denim style skirt's inside label reads "Baby You're it" and "MADE IN INDONESIA." Clothing and department stores nationwide sold these cargo skirts from January 2000 through March 2000 for between $14 and $16.

PROBLEM: The snaps on the panty of these skirts can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using these skirts immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund. Consumers also can return them by mail, and will be reimbursed for postage. For more information, call AMC collect at (212) 819-6564 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
