Kristen Talcott, of Engineering Sciences, and other CPSC staff are holding a public meeting on testing clothing storage units (CSUs) to the stability requirements in the new CPSC Safety Standard for Clothing Storage Units, 16 CFR 1261.  More information on the rule can be found at: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2022/11/25/2022-24587/safety-standard-for-clothing-storage-units.

The meeting will be held at the CPSC National Product Testing and Evaluation Center in Rockville, MD on Monday, January 30, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET.  Staff will show a video demonstrating the testing and will respond to questions related to testing.  These questions are requested by January 16.  Questions should be submitted to ktalcott@cpsc.gov.

In-person attendees must register through the following link: https://www.cpsc.gov/Registration-for-CPSC-Clothing-Storage-Unit and should plan to arrive 20 minutes before the meeting in order to allow time to clear building security.  A government-issued ID will be required.

In response to a potential change in Montgomery County’s CDC COVID-19 community level to HIGH, additional requirements for attendees to this meeting may be implemented. If Montgomery County’s COVID-19 community level is changed to HIGH, employees, visitors, and contractors, would be required to wear a high quality mask or respirator and complete symptom screening, regardless of vaccination status. If, for any reason, a visitor is unable or unwilling to follow these protocols, they will not be permitted to enter the facility. CPSC determines community COVID levels in Montgomery County, MD using this site: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/community-levels.html.

For additional information, including call-in information, please contact Kristen Talcott, ktalcott@cpsc.gov.  Transmitted to the Office of the Secretary 01/11/2023.  Posted in the Public Calendar 01/11/2023.
