Commissioner Feldman Announces New Addition to Senior Staff
WASHINGTON, DC – Peter A. Feldman, commissioner of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), today announced a new addition to his senior staff.
John Mitchell joined Commissioner Feldman’s staff on January 30, 2023, as Senior Advisor. John most recently served as the editorial director of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.
John also served as speechwriter for the attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice. His private sector experience includes working as a writer, editor, and reporter at Reader’s Digest magazine. John received his B.A. in government from the College of William and Mary.
“John’s broad experience will serve him well at CPSC,” Feldman said. “I’m glad to have him on board as a key advisor who will work to advance the agency’s safety mission.”
The CPSC is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products under the agency’s jurisdiction. CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical or mechanical hazard. CPSC’s work to ensure the safety of consumer products – such as toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters, and household chemicals – contributed to a decline in the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products over the past 50 years.
