This week, CPSC announced a new holiday-related recall in cooperation with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. It’s the Holiday Time Christmas Mug Gift Sets. The buttons on the plush characters sold with the gift sets could come off, posing a choking hazard to young children. No injuries or incidents have been reported.
The gift sets include a decorated ceramic mug and a stuffed Santa, snowman, or reindeer. “DanDee COLLECTOR’S CHOICE” is printed on the character’s sewn-in labels. The mug with this set have a Santa with green background, a snowman with blue background, or a Christmas tree with green background.
They were sold at Wal-Mart stores for about $5.
Consumers should immediately take the plush character away from small children and return it to their nearest Wal-Mart for a full refund.

Also this week, BabySwede Recalled about 33,000 BABYBJÖRN Feeding Spoons Due to a Choking Hazard. After extended use, the soft plastic tip on the feeding spoon can loosen and break off, posing a choking hazard to young children.
No incidents have been reported in the United States but BabySwede has received 11 reports of the plastic loosening on the spoons in other countries. No injuries have been reported.
The recalled feeding spoons have “BABYBJÖRN,” printed on the front side of the spoon’s handle. They were sold from January 2001 through November 2006 for about $9 by the pair.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled feeding spoons and contact BabySwede LLC to receive a refund or replacement spoons.

Finally this week, Lifetime Brands Inc. announced the recall of 207,000 Farberware Fruit Slicers and Corers Due to a laceration hazard.
The metal blade can separate from the plastic handle during use, resulting in cuts to consumer’s hands and fingers.
Lifetime Brands has received 34 reports of the blade separating from the handle, including nine reports of cuts to consumers' hands and fingers. Consumers should stop using these fruit slicer immediately and return them to Lifetime Brands Inc. for a refund.
