This week, Starbucks Recalled 73,000 Coffee Brewers Due to a Possible Fire Hazard.
The coffee brewer has defective electrical wiring that can result in overheating, smoking, burning and melting, posing a possible fire hazard.
Starbucks has received 23 reports of melting in the plastic housing of the brewers. No injuries have been reported.
This recall includes the Starbucks Barista Aroma 8-Cup Coffee Brewer only. “Starbucks Barista Aroma” is embossed on the front of the brewer and the brewer has silver control panel buttons and a chrome finish. They were sold at Starbucks stores nationwide between March 2005 and September 2006 for about $100.
Consumers should stop using the recalled coffee brewers immediately and contact Starbucks for a full refund. For more information, consumers should contact Starbucks’ Barista Aroma recall hotline at (800) 453-1047.
Also this week, The Betesh Group is voluntarily recalling about 31,000 Baby Cookie Monster Plush Toys sold at Wal-Mart.
The small felt fabric cookie attached to the plush toy’s hand can be removed easily and ingested by young children, posing a choking hazard.
No injuries or incidents have been reported.
This recall involves the Baby Cookie Monster plush toy packaged with certain Sesame Beginnings Make Music Together DVDs. The toys were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from March 2006 to July 2006 for about $15.
Using scissors, consumers should immediately remove the felt cookie and its connecting thread from the plush toy. Once detached, the felt cookie and thread should be disposed of immediately.

And Finally this week, Decathlon USA is voluntarily recalling about 22,000 Quechua Brand Tents and Canopies. The tents may fail to meet the industry’s flame resistant standard, posing a fire hazard.
No incidents or injuries have been reported
All 2006 model Quechua branded tents sold in orange, red, blue, camouflage, or beige and with a listed SKU numbers are included in this recall. Contact the firm for a listing of the SKU numbers.
The tents were sold at Decathlon USA retail stores in Massachusetts or through online sales at www.decathlontent.com from January 2006 through September 2006 for between $15 and $150.
Consumers should stop using the recalled tents and call Decathlon USA for information on returning these recalled tents for a refund plus an extra $10. For additional information, contact Decathlon USA at (888) 446-5147.
