This week, CPSC announced the recall of about 4,000 Baby Trend Back Pack Carriers. The stitching on the strap of the carrier can loosen or detach, causing the carrier to shift. This poses a fall hazard to young children.
Baby Trend has received one report of a child who bruised their forehead after falling out of the carrier. And the firm also received 17 reports of shoulder straps loosening from the body of the carrier.
The recalled Baby Trend back pack carriers are green and silver and are made of heavy duty nylon with a lightweight steel frame. Only carriers with style number 2512 and 2592LX are included in the recall. The carrier has a 5-point safety harness, padded shoulder and hip straps, padded leg openings and heat support. The carrier also has a top canopy and large diaper bag which attaches to the frame. “Baby Trend” is printed on the back of the seat of the carrier.
They were sold at discount department and juvenile products stores nationwide from March 2002 through November 2006 for about $50. Consumers should contact Baby Trend for return instructions and a free replacement carrier at (800) 328-7363, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.babytrend.com.
Also recalled this week, about 7,200 Stuffed Ball Toys made by Regent Products Corp. The stuffed balls contain lead paint, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
No incidents or injuries have been reported.
The Fun Ball is an orange stuffed ball toy that measures 4 inches in diameter and designed to look like a basketball. The ball is printed with colored numbers, letters and “Reg. #PA-10623(HK).”
They were sold at Dollar stores and other discount stores nationwide from June, 2006 through March, 2007 for about $1.
Consumers should take these balls away from young children immediately and return the toy to the store where purchased for a full refund.
For more information, contact Regent Products at (800) 940-4869, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.regentproducts.com.
Another recall to note, Dynacraft is recalling Bicycles that were sold exclusively at Target.
The recall involves about 32,000 Dynacraft’s Triax PK7 and Vertical PK7 Bicycles with 20-inch aluminum cushion frames.
The bicycle frame can crack while in use, causing the rider to lose control and suffer injuries from a fall or a collision.
The firm has received two reports of bicycle frames cracking, resulting in minor injuries including scratches to the legs and feet.
They were sold at Target stores nationwide from September 2004 through early February 2007 for about $100.
Consumers should stop riding these bicycles immediately and return them to the nearest Target store to receive a full refund.
For additional information, call Dynacraft at (800) 551-0032, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.dynacraftbike.com. You can also contact Target at (800) 440-0680, or go to www.target.com
