TOY SAFETY
- Keep your games and toys with small parts away from younger brothers and sisters. Little kids under the age of 3 tend to put everything in their mouths. This is very dangerous because some game and toy pieces are small enough for them to choke on.
- Put your toys away safely after playing to prevent trips and falls. Many injuries occur when toys are left out causing someone to fall.
- Throw away the plastic wrappings on your toys immediately. Little kids don't know how dangerous plastic can be. It can suffocate a child if it gets wrapped around his or her head. After you open your gifts, throw all wrappings in the garbage.
- Be careful with balloons. Holidays and special occasions like birthdays often include using colorful balloons to add to our celebrations. It may surprise you to learn that most toy-related deaths are caused by balloons. Uninflated balloons and balloon pieces can easily get stuck in the throat and prevent breathing. Ask an adult to blow up balloons and never chew or suck on balloons and balloon pieces. This could be deadly.
