Description:

PRODUCT: ATVs - American Honda Motor Co., Inc. of Torrance, Calif. is voluntarily recalling about 14,400 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). Only the 2002 model-year Honda TRX450 FE/FM and TRX 250 TE/TM are involved in this recall. The TRX 450 FE/FM model has "Foreman" written on the side of the fuel tank. The TRX 250 TE/TM model has "Recon" written on the side of the fuel tank. Honda dealers sold these ATVs nationwide from September 2001 to October 2001 for between $4000 and $6000.

PROBLEM: Some wheels have not been properly welded. The wheel could collapse while riding, possibly resulting in serious injury.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES: None reported.

WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using these ATVs immediately and contact their local Honda dealer to schedule an appointment for an inspection and free repair. For more information, call Motorcycle Customer Service at (310) 532-9811, 7am to 5pm PT. Consumers also can visit the firm's web site at www.hondamotorcycle.com.

Purchasers were sent direct mail notification of this recall.
