CPSC, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is Recalling 2005 Model Off-highway Motorcycles
The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Product: 2005 Kawasaki model KLX110-A4 off-highway motorcycle
Units: About 1500
Manufacturer: Kawasaki Motors Enterprise (Thailand) Co., Ltd. of Thailand.
Hazard: On some units, the rear shock absorber may have been assembled with an incorrect o-ring, allowing fluid to leak from the shock. Fluid loss from the shock can compromise the shock's damping characteristics, which can render the motorcycle unstable creating a potential for an injury or death.
Incidents/Injuries: None Reported.
Description: The recalled Kawasaki motorcycles are 2005 model KLX110 off-highway "minicycles." They are small-sized motorcycles intended for use by minors and adults. They are green in color, and have "Kawasaki" and "KLX110" identification on the sides of the fuel tank.
Sold at: Authorized Kawasaki dealers from July 2004 to present. Retail price $1,649.
Manufactured in: Thailand.
Remedy: Consumers should stop using the motorcycles immediately and contact their Kawasaki dealer to schedule an appointment for a free replacement of the rear shock.
