In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tween Brands Inc., of New Albany, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 103,000 pieces of Children's Metal Jewelry. The jewelry contains high levels of lead which can cause adverse health effects and is toxic if ingested by young children.
Kayak Paddle Floats Recalled by NRS Due to Drowning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), NRS, of Moscow, Idaho, is voluntarily recalling about 1,000 NRS Sea Kayak Paddle Floats. The plastic tubes used to inflate the paddle float could break and deflate, posing a drowning hazard to consumers.
Innovative Scuba Concepts Recalls Diving Regulator Components Due to Drowning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Innovative Scuba Concepts Inc., of Colorado Springs, Colo., is voluntarily recalling about 170 Swivels for Scuba Regulators. The swivel, which is attached to a diving regulator, could separate while diving. This will result in a complete and sudden loss of the diver's air supply, causing the diver to engage in emergency ascent procedures. This poses a risk of decompression sickness due to rapid ascent, and air embolism or drowning if the diver panics or the emergency ascent procedure fails.
Song Lin Industrial Inc. Recalls Cribs Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Song Lin Industrial Inc., of Oklahoma City, Okla., is voluntarily recalling about 180 Sleigh Round Cribs. The assembly instructions included with the crib direct consumers to assemble the crib with the mattress support in the highest position and do not indicate that the mattress support can be moved to a lower position. This poses a fall hazard to children who are able to sit or stand up in the crib.
Royal Products Recalls Pine Cone Candles Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Royal Products Inc., of Brooklyn, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 2,700 Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candles. The candle's exterior coating and beads can ignite and catch fire. The fire resulting from the coating and beads on the exterior of the candle could ignite nearby combustibles.
Fisher-Price Rainforest Infant Swings Recalled Due to Entrapment Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fisher-Price, of East Aurora, NY, is voluntarily recalling about 112,000 (an additional 15,000 were sold worldwide) Rainforest Open Top Take-Along Swings. Infants can shift to one side of the swing and become caught between the frame and seat, posing an entrapment hazard.
Toy Drums Recalled by The Boyds Collection Ltd. Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Boyds Collection Ltd., of McSherrystown, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 4,500 Eli's Small Drums and Liberty's Large Drums. The red paint on the drums contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
K2 Sports Recalls Marker M1 Demo Ski Bindings Due to Unexpected Release, Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), K2 Sports, of Seattle, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 7,400 pairs of Marker M1 Demo Ski Bindings. Skiers can unintentionally displace a lever at the rear of the binding which is used for fitting adjustment by ski technicians. If it is fully displaced, it can result in the unexpected release of the binding and possibly cause the user to fall.
Polaris Recalls Select Hawkeye Model ATVs for Steering Post Failure Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 8,800 Polaris Model Year 2006 Hawkeye 2x4 and Hawkeye 4x4 ATVs. The steering posts can break in the area where the handlebar attaches to the steering post. This can result in loss of steering control resulting in a crash and/or serious injury to the operator.
Polaris Recalls Select Hawkeye Model ATVs Due to Loss of Control Hazard – Three Crashes Reported
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 9,400 Polaris Model Year 2006 Hawkeye 2x4 and Hawkeye 4x4 ATVs. The ATV's front bearing carrier can fail due to an insufficient amount of material thickness in the area where the lower a-arm and ball joint are attached which can result in a loss of control and a crash and/or serious injury to the operator.
CPSC Warns Toddler Drownings Happen Quickly and Silently
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports there are about 260 drowning deaths of children younger than 5 each year in swimming pools, and an estimated 2,725 children are treated annually in hospital emergency rooms for pool submersion injuries – mostly in residential pools. CPSC strongly advises that parents use layers of protection around the pool to prevent their children from becoming a drowning victim.
Off-Road Motorcycles Recalled Due to Fuel Leak

The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff today warned that there is a potential risk of lead exposure from baby bibs with cracked or peeling vinyl surfaces. This consumer alert applies only to used bibs that are worn or have deteriorated. Pieces of vinyl containing lead could pose a hazard to infants if they are swallowed.

These rings were subject to the July 2004 recall of 150 million pieces of children's metal jewelry. The firm placed the recalled rings that it had pulled from stores back into circulation.

Char-Broil Recalls Two-Burner Gas Grills Sold Exclusively at Big Lots Stores Due to Fire, Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Char-Broil LLC, of Columbus, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 600 Char-Broil Two-Burner Gas Grills Model 463720407. The recalled grills could have an incorrect heat shield that does not fit the grills. Without the correct heat shield, the propane tank, hose, and regulator could overheat and damage these components, presenting a risk of fire and burn to consumers, if a propane leak occurs.
August Deadline Set for End to Central Sprinkler O-Ring Sprinkler Recall; Property Owners Should Act Now To Request Replacement of Sprinkler Heads
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Central Sprinkler Company are urging residential and commercial property owners who have O-ring sprinklers covered under the previously-announced recall and have not yet filed a claim to replace them, to contact Central Sprinkler immediately. Home and commercial property owners need to submit their claim within the next 120 days, as the program for receiving free replacement heads will end on August 31, 2007.
