bullet Venmar Ventilation Inc. Recalls Heat Recovery Ventilators Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Venmar Ventilation Inc., of Quebec, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 75,000 Heat Recovery Ventilators. The motors in these units can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
bullet Dynacraft Recalls Bicycles Sold Exclusively at Target Due to Frame Failure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dynacraft BSC Inc., of American Canyon, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 32,000 Triax PK7 and Vertical PK7 Bicycles. The bicycle frame can crack while in use, causing the rider to lose control and suffer injuries from a fall or collision.
bullet Regent Products Corp. Recalls Stuffed Ball Toys Due to Lead Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Regent Products Corp., River Grove, IL, is voluntarily recalling about 7,200 Stuffed Fun Balls. The stuffed balls contain lead paint, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Inflator Pumps Recalled By Stearns Inc. Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Stearns Inc., of St. Cloud, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 1,400 West Marine Inflator Pumps. The inflator pumps can explode during use, ejecting sharp plastic parts and posing a serious laceration hazard to consumers.
bullet Estes-Cox Radio Control Airplanes with Lithium Polymer Batteries Recalled for Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Estes-Cox Corp., of Penrose, Colo., is voluntarily recalling about 66,000 Radio Control Model Airplanes (Models 4153 and 4161) with Lithium Polymer Batteries. The airplanes can overheat while recharging the battery, posing a fire hazard.
bullet Baby Trend Recalls Back Pack Carriers Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Baby Trend Inc., of Ontario, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 Baby Trend Back Pack Carriers. The robes fail to meet Federal flammability requirements. The stitching on the strap of the carrier can loosen or detach, causing the carrier to shift, posing a fall hazard to young children.
bullet QVC Inc. Recalls “Quacker Factory” Robes for Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), QVC Inc., of West Chester, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 15,000 “Quacker Factory” Chenille Robes. The robes fail to meet Federal flammability requirements. Should the robe come in contact with an ignition source, such as a stove burner, candle flame or cigarette lighter, it could catch fire and possibly cause serious burns to consumers.
bullet Universal Engineering Recalls Clamps for Motocross Motorcycles Due to Fork Separation Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Universal Engineering, of Temecula, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 48 Radius Triple Clamps sold for use with Motocross Motorcycles. The radius triple clamps on these motorcycles can crack during operation, posing a risk that the fork of the bike could separate and result in serious injury or death to the rider.
bullet Infantino Recalls Infant Sling Carriers Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Infantino LLC, of San Diego, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 SlingRider Infant Carriers. The radius triple clamps on these motorcycles can crack during operation, posing a risk that the fork of the bike could separate and result in serious injury or death to the rider.
bullet Digital Security Controls Recalls Smoke Detectors that Could Fail to Warn of a Fire
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Digital Security Controls, of Toronto, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 32,000 Digital Security Controls FSA and FSB Series Smoke Detectors. These smoke detectors could fail to reliably detect smoke during a fire.
bullet Maytag® and Samsung™ Brand Front Loading Washing Machines Recalled Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Maytag Corp., of Newton, Iowa, and Samsung Electronics America Inc., of Ridgefield Park, N.J., are voluntarily recalling about 250,000 Maytag-brand Front Loading Washing Machines and about 20,000 Samsung-brand Front Loading Washing Machines. Water leakage onto the electrical connections to the washing machine’s thermal sensor could cause an electrical short and ignite a circuit board, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
bullet Home Decorators Collection Recalls Wall Sconces Due to Electrical Shock Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Home Decorators Collection, of St. Louis, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 900 Home Decorators Collection Wall Sconces. A missing back plate exposes consumers to live wires, posing a risk of electrical shock to consumers changing the light bulb.
bullet Casio® Inc. Announces Recall of Electronic Keyboards Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Casio® Inc., of Dover, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 Electronic Musical Keyboards. The recalled keyboards can overheat when in use, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
bullet American Suzuki Motor Corp. Recalls All-Terrain Vehicles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Suzuki Motor Corp., of Brea, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 3,500 Suzuki 2007 Model Year QuadSport Z90 ATVs. The bushing pivot mount boss on the left and right suspension arm may not have been welded completely and could break off during riding. If this occurs, the rider could lose control of the ATV and crash, posing risk of serious injury or death.
bullet Hanna Andersson Recalls Children’s Loungewear Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hanna Andersson of Portland, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 12,300 Hanna Andersson Children’s Crossover Tee and Lounge Pant Sets and Cropped Johns. The recalled garments fail to meet the children’s sleepwear flammability standards. The Crossover Tee and Lounge Pant sets were marketed as loungewear. The Cropped Johns were not marketed as loungewear, but could be used as loungewear. The children’s sleepwear flammability standards require sleepwear, including loungewear, to be either snug-fitting or flame resistant.
bullet Laars Heating Systems Recalls Gas Boilers and Water Heaters Due to Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Laars Heating Systems Co., of Rochester, N.H., is voluntarily recalling about 2,100 Laars 9600 CB Condensing Boilers & 9600 HWG Condensing Water Heaters. Internal black plastic venting components in the gas boilers and water heaters can crack and leak flue gases, including carbon monoxide (CO), posing a risk of CO poisoning.
bullet CPSC Launches “Drive to 1 Million” Recall Initiative
While consumers are preparing to clean, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is encouraging consumers to spring clean for safety. In doing so, CPSC is launching the new “Drive to 1 Million” initiative. The goal: to sign-up at least 1 million consumers to receive life-saving information electronically through CPSC’s e-mail notification project.
bullet CPSC Urges New Parents to Adopt Lifesaving Routine to Prevent Child Poisonings; Poison Prevention Has Saved More Than 900 Lives Since the 1970s
Every day thousands of new parents assume the responsibility of caring for and protecting a child. Many of these first-time caregivers are unaware of the dangers of unintentional poisonings often related to medicines and household products commonly found in the home, such as personal care products, over-the-counter pain relievers and cleaning substances.
bullet Amprobe Recalls Clamp Meters Due to Shock Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Amprobe Test Tools, of Everett, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 70,000 Amprobe Digital Clamp Meters used for electrical testing. The meters can fail to give an appropriate voltage reading, resulting in the operator believing the electrical power is off, which can pose a risk of shock, electrocution, or thermal burn hazard.
bullet Children’s Mood Necklaces Recalled by Rhode Island Novelty Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Rhode Island Novelty, of Cumberland, R.I., is voluntarily recalling about 47,000 Children’s Mood Necklaces. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Children’s Necklaces Sold Exclusively at Claire’s Stores Recalled Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Claire’s Boutiques Inc., of Hoffman Estates, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 58,000 Children’s Necklaces. The recalled necklaces contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Gevalia Recalls Kaffe Combo Coffeemakers Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gevalia is voluntarily recalling about 21,000 Gevalia Kaffe Combo Coffeemakers (imported by Global Marketing Corp., of Parsippany, NJ). The heating element can melt the plastic outer shell, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
bullet Toys “R” Us Recalls “Elite Operations” Toy Sets Due to Lead and Laceration Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Toys “R” Us Inc., of Wayne, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 128,700 “Elite Operations” Toy Sets. These toys contain high levels of lead in the paint, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. Also, the toys have sharp points, posing a laceration hazard.
bullet Tri-Star International Recalls Children’s Stationery Sets Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tri-Star International Inc., of Newark, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 360 Children’s Stationery Sets. The children’s stationery set contains a razor blade cutter with a sharp edge, posing a laceration hazard to young children.
bullet Children’s Necklaces Sold Exclusively at Accessories Palace Recalled by United Imports Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), United Imports Inc., of Flushing, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 3,600 Children’s Mood Necklaces. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cobmex Inc., of Lakewood, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 16,000 Cobmex Youth Jackets with Drawstrings. The recalled jackets have drawstrings in the hood and waist, or only at the waist. Children can get entangled and strangle in drawstrings that can catch on playground equipment, fences or tree branches.
bullet Nordstrom Recalls Children’s Flannel Lounge Pants Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Nordstrom Inc., of Seattle, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 78,000 N-Kids Brand Girl’s Drawstring Flannel Pants and Pine Peak Blues Brand Boy’s Drawstring Flannel Pants. These lounge pants are 100 percent cotton and fail to meet the children’s sleepwear flammability standards, posing a risk of burn injury to children. These garments were not labeled or marketed as sleepwear, but because they are children’s loungewear, they must meet the children’s sleepwear flammability standards.
bullet Dollar Stop Plus Recalls Extension Cords for Fire, Shock, Electrocution Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dollar Stop Plus, of Chicago, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 40 15-Foot Extension Cords. These extension cords have undersized wiring, and fail to connect properly at the plug and receptacle ends. This poses fire, shock and electrocution hazards to consumers.
bullet Discount School Supply Recalls Children’s Two-Sided Easels Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Discount School Supply, of Monterey, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2,500 Elite 5-in-1 Easels. The paint on the chalkboard side of the recalled easels contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Weber-Stephen Products Recalls Gas Grills Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Weber-Stephen Products Co., of Palatine, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 14,000 Weber® Genesis® 320™ Series Gas Grills. The gas hose attached to the side burner of the grill can crack or break off during shipping, causing it to leak gas when in use, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.
bullet H & M Recalls Boy’s Jackets Due to Choking, Poisoning Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), H & M, of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 2,700 Boy’s Jackets with an attached compass. The attached compass on these jackets can break, posing a choking hazard for young children. Additionally, the liquid mineral oil, inside the compass can be harmful if swallowed.
bullet One World Technologies Recalls Throat Plates Sold with Ryobi Router Tables Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), One World Technologies Inc., of Anderson, S.C., is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 Ryobi Router Table Throat Plates. The throat plates do not securely snap into the router’s table top bit opening. The throat plate can come loose during operation and be ejected from the table top, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.
bullet Fisher-Price Fined $975,000 for Failing to Report a Serious Choking, Aspiration Hazard with a Popular Children’s Toy
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Fisher-Price Inc., of East Aurora, N.Y., has agreed to pay a $975,000 civil penalty. The penalty, which the Commission has provisionally accepted, settles allegations that the company failed to report to the government that a nail fastener in the Little People® Animal Sounds Farm could separate from the toy and pose a serious choking or aspiration hazard to young children.
bullet Lenovo Recalls ThinkPad Notebook PC Extended-Life Batteries Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lenovo (United States) Inc., of Research Triangle Park, N.C. and Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., of Japan, are voluntarily recalling about 100,000 battery packs (with an additional 105,000 battery packs were sold worldwide) Lithium-ion extended-life batteries used in ThinkPad notebook computers. If the battery in the laptop is struck forcefully on the corner, such as from a direct fall to the ground, the battery pack can overheat and pose a fire hazard to users. This is not an internal battery cell defect.
