In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Coolibar Inc., of St. Louis Park, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 3,000 Children’s Sun Block Jackets and Hoodies. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children.
E-Z-GO Recalls RXV Golf Cars Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), E-Z-GO, of Augusta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 16,500 RXV Golf Cars. The hip restraints on the cars can detach at the base, posing a fall and injury risk to consumers.
Westminster Inc. Recalls Remote-Controlled Helicopter Toys Due to Risk of Fire
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Westminster Inc., of Atlanta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 102,000 “Thunder Wolf” Remote Controlled Indoor Helicopters. The rechargeable battery inside the helicopter can overheat. This can result in the helicopter’s body melting, as well as a risk of fire or burns to consumers.
Stanley Furniture Recalls Cribs Due to Entrapment Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Stanley Furniture Company Inc., of Stanleytown, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 1,200 2nd Nature Built to Grow Cribs. The cribs could fail to meet a federal safety standard for crib dimensions. When the mattress support is in the middle setting, the space between the mattress and the crib could be too wide, posing an entrapment hazard to infants.
Hewlett-Packard Co. Recalls Fax Machines Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hewlett-Packard Co., of Palo Alto, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 367,000 HP Fax 1010 and 1010xi Machines. An internal electrical component failure can cause overheating of the product posing a risk of burn or fire.
ATVs Recalled By KYMCO Due to Loss of Speed Control
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), KYMCO USA, of Spartanburg, S.C., is voluntarily recalling about 1,700 2008 Model Year Mongoose Youth ATVs. A manufacturing defect in the carburetor can cause the throttle to stick open, posing a risk of serious injury or death to the rider.
ATVs Recalled By Kawasaki Due to Loss of Speed Control
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A., of Irvine, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 6,000 2008 Model Year KFX 50 and KFX 90 Youth ATVs. The throttle can fail to return to the idle position when released or could fail to be at idle on start-up. This could result in loss of vehicle control, posing a risk of serious injury or death to the rider.
Jardine Cribs Sold by Babies"R"Us Recalled Due to Entrapment and Strangulation Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Jardine Enterprises, of Taipei, Taiwan, is voluntarily recalling about 320,000 Jardine Cribs. The wooden crib slats and spindles can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants.
Nordstrom Recalls Girls’ Sandals Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Nordstrom Inc. of Seattle, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 1,500 Nordstrom’s Cadence-Lea and Trio-Lea Girl’s Sandals. The flower embellishments on the sandals can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Dollar Tree Recalls Glue Guns Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dollar Tree, Inc., of Chesapeake, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 470,000 Crafters Square Hot Melt Mini Glue Guns. The recalled glue guns can short circuit, causing the gun to smoke. This poses a fire hazard to consumers.
A. O. Smith Recalls Water Pump Motors Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), A.O. Smith Electrical Products Co., of Tipp City, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 6,750 Water Pump Motors. The water pumps with the recalled motors are labeled as containing a one-horsepower motor, but actually contain a 3/4-horsepower motor. Under certain conditions, the smaller motor could overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Illegal and Improper Use of Fireworks Continue to Harm Consumers; More than Half of Injuries Occur Around July 4th Holiday
For most Americans, the Fourth of July celebration is a time for food, fun and fireworks, but in 2007 nearly 10,000 Americans were treated in emergency rooms for firework-related injuries. Today on the National Mall, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that 64 percent of these injuries occurred during the one month period surrounding the July 4th holiday.
Arctic Cat Recalls Model Year 2008 50cc and 90cc Youth Model ATVs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 6,000 Model Year 2008 Arctic Cat 50cc and 90cc All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The speed controller on the recalled ATVs could fail to return to the idle position when the throttle lever is released, or the speed controller could fail to be at idle on start up. This could result in loss of vehicle control, which could result in serious injury or death to the rider.
Miracle Recreation Recalls Tire Swings Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Miracle Recreation Equipment Co., of Monett, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 1,400 Playground Tire Swings. The hanger clamp on the tire swing can fail causing the tire swing to detach. This poses a fall hazard to young children and risk of serious injury.
Wal-Mart Recalls Additional Charm Key Chains Due to Risk of Lead Exposure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Ark., is voluntarily recalling about 39,000 "Hip Charm" Key Chains. The charms on the key chain can contain high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested and can cause adverse health effects.
Tucker Rocky Recalls Off-Road Motorcycle Clamp Kits; Bolts Can Break Causing Handlebars to Separate During a Crash and Cause Serious Injury
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tucker Rocky Distributing, of Fort Worth, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 12,000 Pro Taper Clamp Kits Used With Off-Road Motorcycles. Some of the bolts included in the clamp kits (or sold separately) if installed incorrectly can break under extreme force such as a crash. This can cause the handlebars to separate posing a risk of serious injury to the rider.
Bush Hog Off-Road Utility Vehicles Recalled Due to Loss of Speed Control
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bush Hog LLC, of Selma, Ala., is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 Bush Hog Off-Road Utility Vehicles. The utility vehicle’s throttle cable can freeze in freezing temperatures. This can cause the engine not to return to idle when the driver takes his or her foot off the accelerator pedal.
BRP U.S. Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), BRP U.S. Inc., of Sturtevant, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 430 Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles. Friction between the fuel hose and the cylinder head cover can cause the hose to pierce. This can cause fuel to leak out, posing a fire hazard.
Children’s Merry-Go-Rounds Sold Exclusively at Toys R Us Recalled by Pacific Cycle Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pacific Cycle Inc., of Madison, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 15,000 Playsafe Spinning Quad Merry-Go-Rounds. The inner bearing on the merry-go-round can fail, causing the seat assembly to suddenly drop to the ground. This poses a fall hazard to children riding the merry-go-round.
Children's Overalls Recalled by Sara Lynn Togs Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sara Lynn Togs, of Atlanta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 1,800 Infant and Toddler Shortall overalls. The buttons on the shoulder straps can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Robert Bosch Tool Corp. Recalls Hammer Drills Due to Risk of Injury
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Robert Bosch Tool Corp., of Mount Prospect, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 9,700 Bosch Hammer Drills. The drill can continue to operate after the trigger has been released, posing a risk of injury to consumers.
Sauna By Airwall Recalls Infra-Red Sauna Rooms Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sauna By Airwall Inc., of Bellflower, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 225 Infra-Red Sauna Rooms. The heating unit and fuse can fail, leading to overheating of the saunas. This defect can result in a serious fire hazard to consumers.
MTD Recalls Utility Vehicles Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), MTD, of Brownsville, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 700 Cub Cadet 4x4 EFI Volunteer Utility Vehicles. Excessive heat can cause the wiring harness to melt. This defect can result in a fire hazard to consumers.
The Children’s Place Recalls Camouflage Pajama Sets Due to Excessive Lead
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Children’s Place Retail Stores Inc., of Secaucus, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 28,000 Camouflage Pajama Sets. The screen print on the shirt contains excess levels of lead.
Crate and Barrel Recalls Shag Rugs Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Crate and Barrel, of Northbrook, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 5,100 “Remy” Shag Rugs. The large rugs fail to meet federal standards for flammability and could ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The small rugs fail to meet federal labeling requirements. Small rugs are not required to meet the federal flammability standard; however, they are required to be permanently labeled with the following statement: “FLAMMABLE (FAILS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE STANDARD FF 2-70): SHOULD NOT BE USED NEAR SOURCES OF IGNITION.”
Progress Lighting Recalls Ceiling-Mounted Indoor Light Fixtures; Lights Can Fall Posing an Impact Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Progress Lighting, of Greenville, S.C., is voluntarily recalling about 7,500 Indoor Ceiling Light Fixtures. A cable that supports the light fixture from the ceiling can fail, causing the fixture to fall and injure nearby consumers.
Backyard Leisure Recalls Swing Sets Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Backyard Leisure LLC, of Pittsburg, Kan., is voluntarily recalling about 11,000 Adventure Play Sets and Create N Adventure Wooden Play Sets. Hangers holding the chains for the gliders can break, causing a child to fall and suffer injuries.
Children’s Animal Tracking Explorer Kit Recalled by MindWare; Contains Chemical That Irritates Skin and Eyes
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), MindWare, of Roseville, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 2,200 Animal Tracking Explorer Kit. The powder in the kit marked “plaster of paris” is actually calcium hydroxide, which poses a risk of skin and eye irritation to children using the product.
Polycom, Inc. Recalls Wireless Conference Phone Batteries Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polycom, Inc., of Pleasanton, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 5,800 SoundStation2W Wireless Conference Phones with Lithium Ion Batteries. The battery packs can overheat, posing a fire or burn hazard.
Simmons Kids Recalls Crib Mattresses Due to Entrapment Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Simmons Kids, a division of The Simmons Manufacturing Co., LLC of Atlanta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 20,000 Simmons Kids Crib Mattresses. Some of the crib mattresses can measure smaller than the 27 1/4 inch minimum width requirement for cribs, creating a gap between the mattress and crib side rails, posing an entrapment hazard to infants.
eStyle Recalls Mini Chef Toy Kitchens Due to Choking and Tip-Over Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), eStyle Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 65 Mini Chef Complete Toy Kitchens. The four pegs supporting the oven shelf and four pegs supporting the refrigerator shelf can pull out of the wood, posing a choking hazard to children. The toy kitchen unit also can tip over, posing a risk of serious injury to children.
Bassettbaby Cribs Recalled Due to Entrapment Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Babies "R" Us
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bassettbaby, of Bassett, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 550 Wendy Bellissimo Hidden Hills Collection Cribs. The space between the spindles on some cribs can fail to meet federal standards and can pose an entrapment hazard to infants.
Polaris Industries Expands Recall of ATVs Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 700 (about 95,000 have been recalled previously) Polaris All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The ATVs can have defective Electronic Control Modules (ECM) that overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to riders.
Log Swings Recalled by Far East Brokers and Consultants Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Far East Brokers and Consultants Inc., of Jacksonville, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 750 Log Swings. A missing nail connecting the back of the log chair to the seat can cause the back to separate from the seat while in use, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
Children’s Jewelry Recalled By Daiso Due to Risk of Lead Exposure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Daiso Seattle LLC, of Lynnwood, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 50 pieces of children’s jewelry. The jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
QVC Recalls Tomato Planters Due to Collapse Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), QVC, of West Chester, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 82,000 Topsy-Turvy Deluxe Tomato Planters with Stands. The legs on the bottom of the planter can detach when the planter is moved or becomes unbalanced. This could cause the planter to fall and injure bystanders.
