Fire Hazard with Thermador® Built-In Ovens Leads to Recall by BSH Home Appliances Corp.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), BSH Home Appliances Corp., of Huntington Beach, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 42,000 Thermador® Brand Built-In Ovens. The oven can have gaps in the insulation where overheating can occur and when used in the self-cleaning mode it can cause nearby cabinets to overheat. This can pose a fire hazard to consumers.
Ceramic Heaters Recalled By Lasko; Heaters Could Pose A Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lasko Products Inc., of West Chester, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 1.2 million Lasko Ceramic Heaters. The heater's cord can overheat where it enters the base of the unit, which could pose a fire hazard to consumers.
Target Recalls Toy Barbeque Grills Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target, of Minneapolis, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 2,300 Play Wonder Toy Barbeque Grills. The circular ash tray attached to the stainless steel legs of the grill could contain sharp edges, posing a laceration hazard.
CPSC, Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. Announce Recall of All-Terrain Vehicles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A. of Irvine, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 6,000 Kawasaki KFX450R All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV). The flange, which holds the fuel pump in the fuel tank, can fail to stay connected to the tank itself. This can create a fuel leak, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.
CPSC Warns of Deadly Dangers When Consumers Use Illegal Fireworks
Between 2000 and 2006, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has reports of 49 fireworks-related consumer deaths, the CPSC announced today on the Washington Mall, joined by the U.S. Fire Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). More than half of these incidents involved illegal fireworks. On average there are about seven firework-related deaths each year. The CPSC is aware of 11 deaths associated with fireworks in 2006. CPSC's staff estimates that there were 9,200 emergency room-treated injuries associated with all fireworks in 2006. Most of these injuries, 6,400, occurred during the one month period surrounding the July 4th holiday.
Bond Manufacturing Co. Issues Recall for Folding Recliner Chairs That Can Collapse and Injure Users
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bond Manufacturing Co., of Baypoint, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 68,000 Rockingham Deluxe Lounge Chairs (also sold as Vanderwall Folding Recliner Chairs). The chairs can collapse or fall backward due to faulty support brackets or weak frames, posing fall and severe laceration hazards to consumers.
Pier 1 Imports Expands Recall of Glassware Pieces
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pier 1 Imports, Fort Worth, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 219,000 Blue/Green Dual Glassware Pieces (about 180,000 orange and red glassware pieces were recalled on May 8, 2007). The glassware can crack or break unexpectedly, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.
ATVs Recalled by Polaris Industries Inc. Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 930 Polaris "Outlaw 525" ATVs. The recalled ATVs may have a loose fuel valve within the fuel tank, which could cause a fuel leak and pose a fire hazard to riders.
New Federal Mattress Standard Expected to Save Hundreds of Lives, Prevent Thousands of Injuries
Mattresses manufactured on or after July 1, 2007 must meet the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) flammability standard. The mandatory standard is designed to reduce the severity of mattress fires ignited by open flame sources such as candles, matches and lighters.
Gateway Inc. Recalls Notebook Computer Batteries Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gateway Inc., of Irvine, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 14,000 Gateway Lithium Ion Battery Packs. These lithium-ion battery packs can overheat, which could pose a fire hazard to consumers. This is not an internal battery cell defect.
Children's Necklaces Recalled by GeoCentral Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), GeoCentral, of Napa, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 19,000 Butterfly Necklaces. The metal clasp on the necklace contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Far East Imports Recalls Fireworks Due to Eye Injury Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Far East Imports, of Pittsburg, Kan., is voluntarily recalling about 13,600 300 Shot Saturn Missiles Battery Fireworks. These fireworks devices can travel in an unexpected and dangerous direction, which could pose eye and other injury hazards to bystanders.
Jakes Fireworks Inc. Recalls Fireworks Sold by World Class Distributors Due to Burn and Injury Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Jakes Fireworks Inc., of Pittsburg, Kas., is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 March or Die Mine/Shell Fireworks Devices. The tubes on these fireworks devices could become loose, making the devices unstable during use. If the device tips over during use, it could pose burn and injury hazards to bystanders.
Cummins Power Generation Inc. Recalls Stationary Natural Gas and Propane Fueled Generators Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cummins Power Generation Inc., of Fridley, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 3,300 Stationary Natural Gas and Propane Fueled Generators. The generator's fuel shut-off valve can fail to close, resulting in a gas leak from the unit. This poses a risk of fire and burn injuries to consumers.
Briggs & Stratton Snow Thrower Engines Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

Simplicity Recalls Cribs Due to Fall, Entrapment and Choking Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 40,000 Nursery-in-a-Box Cribs. The assembly instructions provided with the cribs incorrectly instruct consumers how to attach the crib's drop side. If improperly installed, the drop side can disengage from the crib, posing fall and entrapment hazards for the child. Additionally, the metal locking pins on the drop side can pop off, presenting a choking hazard.
CPSC Warns Meerkat 50 Youth ATVs Defective and Dangerous
The staff of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers who own a Kazuma Meerkat 50 Youth All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) that children are at risk of injury or death due to multiple safety defects with this off-road vehicle. The ATVs, which were imported by Kazuma Pacific Inc., of Stafford, Texas, were found to have several serious defects.
