bulletCPSC Staff Finds Synthetic Turf Fields OK to Install, OK to Play On
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff today released its evaluation of various synthetic athletic fields. The evaluation concludes that young children are not at risk from exposure to lead in these fields. CPSC staff evaluation showed that newer fields had no lead or generally had the lowest lead levels. Although small amounts of lead were detected on the surface of some older fields, none of these tested fields released amounts of lead that would be harmful to children.
bulletWooden Toys Recalled by Earthentree Due To Choking and Strangulation Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Earthentree of Kirkland, Wash., is voluntarily recalling about 375 Wooden Toys. The recalled toys contain small parts or can break into small parts, posing a choking hazard. The recalled rattles violate the federal rattle standard. Some of the toys also have a string longer than 12 inches, which can pose a strangulation hazard to young children.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), New England Ropes, of Fall River, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 530 Maxim Apogee and Maxim Pinnacle Dynamic Climbing Lines/Ropes. The climbing lines can break, posing a serious fall hazard for climbers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Daiso LLC, of Burlingame, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 40 Stuffed Toy Dogs. The stuffed toys contain small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bulletPacific Science Supplies Recalls Magnets Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pacific Science Supplies Inc., of Bensenville, Ill, is voluntarily recalling about 40,000 U-shaped Magnets, Bar Magnets, Magnet Sets and Magnet Needle Sets. The paint on the magnets can contain excess levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
bulletHorseshoe Magnets Recalled by Dowling Magnets Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dowling Magnets, of Sonoma, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 91,500 Classic Horseshoe Magnets. The plastic coating on the magnets contains excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kids II Inc., of Alpharetta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 19,000 Bright Starts Ring Rattles. The tip of the rattle’s antenna, which is attached to a bee figure, can detach and pose a choking hazard to small children.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cost Plus Inc., of Oakland, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 8,600 Santorini Chairs. The seat weld can fail and allow the chair to collapse, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
bulletRemote-Controlled Helicopter Toys Recalled by Innovage Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Innovage LLC, of Foothill Ranch, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 685,000 "Sky Scrambler" and "The Sharper Image" Wireless Indoor Helicopters. The rechargeable lithium ion battery inside the helicopters can overheat, catch fire, and ignite nearby combustibles, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
bulletReebok International Ltd. Recalls Exercise Cycles Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fitness Associates Incorporated (F.A.I.), under license from Reebok International Ltd., of Canton, Mass. (Note: F.A.I. is no longer in business), is voluntarily recalling about 20,000 Reebok Studio Exercise Cycles. The alloy cranks on the exercise cycles can break during use, posing a laceration and abrasion hazard to users.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), TTI Floor Care North America, of Glenwillow, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 987,000 Dirt Devil Vacuum Power Brush Attachment Tools. Plastic pieces inside the vacuum tool can break apart and be ejected, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Electra Bicycle Company, LLC of Vista, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 9,500 Amsterdam Bicycles. The interior alignment tabs of the bicycle’s chainguard can be pushed against the chain causing it to derail, which poses a risk of injury to riders.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lithonia Lighting, of Conyers, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 1,200 Indoor Lighting Fixtures. A thermal protector could be missing from the lighting fixtures, posing a risk of overheating and fire.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sleep Innovations Inc., of West Long Branch, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 120,000 Cuddly Comfort Pillows. The pillows can contain small metal fragments in the fiber-fill as a result of a mechanical breakdown in the manufacturing process. The metal fragments can cause abrasions and cuts to consumers.

bullet SunL Group Inc. Recalls Youth ATVs Due To Safety Defects
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), SunL Group Inc., of Irving, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 144 SLA90 Youth All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The youth ATV lacks front brakes, a manual fuel shut-off, and padding to cover the sharp edges on the handlebar assembly. Additionally, the vehicle is sold without a tire pressure gauge or adequate flag pole bracket. The defects could lead to young drivers losing control of the ATVs, which poses the risk of serious injuries or death.
bullet Log Splitter Engines Recalled By American Honda Motor Co. Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Honda Motor Corp., of Torrance, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 6,400 Engines used in SpeeCo and Huskee Brand Log Splitters. The engine’s fuel tank can crack and leak, posing a risk of fire or explosion.
bullet Studio RTA Recalls TV Stands Due to TV Tip-over Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Studio RTA, of Pico Rivera, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 6,700 TV Stands. The stability of the stand does not meet industry standards to prevent TV tip-over, posing a risk of injury or death to consumers.
bullet All-Terrain Vehicles Recalled By American Honda Motor Co. Due to Risk of Loss of Control Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Honda Motor Co. Inc., of Torrance, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 42,000 Model Year 2007-2008 TRX 420 Rancher ATVs. If the ATV’s rubber CV (constant velocity) boots get punctured or torn the joint will become contaminated and severe binding of the CV joints could occur, resulting in the sudden loss of steering control. This poses a risk of injury or death to riders.
bullet Bench Scale Adapters Recalled by American Weigh Scales Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Weigh Scales, of Charleston, S.C., is voluntarily recalling about 1,300 Bench Scale Adapters. The recalled bench scale adapters can smoke, catch fire and melt, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
bullet Propane Storage Tanks Recalled By American Welding & Tank Due to Risk of Gas Leak; Can Pose Fire and Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Welding & Tank LLC, of Jesup, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 11,000 Conversion Underground Propane Storage Tanks. An odorant is added to propane to help alert customers to propane leaks, but rust inside a propane tank can cause the odor to fade. Some converted above-ground to underground converted tanks can have an increased susceptibility to odor fade, causing consumers to be unable to detect the odor of propane in the event of a gas leak. This can pose a fire and burn hazard to consumers if there is a leak in the propane gas system.
bullet Polaris Industries Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Risk of Injury to Riders Exposure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 1,360 550 LX, Trail Touring, and Trail Touring Deluxe snowmobiles. Cracks could form in the starter ring-gear and cause the ring-gear to fracture into several pieces. The broken pieces could be propelled out of the chassis of the machine at high speed causing serious injury or death to the rider and/or bystanders.
bullet Lip Gloss and Jewelry Sets Sold Exclusively at Wal-Mart Recalled by F.A.F. Inc. Due to Risk of Lead Exposure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), F.A.F. Inc., of Greenville, R.I., is voluntarily recalling about 30,000 “Faded Glory” Lip Gloss, Locket, and Bracelet Sets. The lobster claw clasp on the bracelet contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Lawn Mowers Recalled by American Honda Motor Corp. Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Honda Motor Corp., of Torrance, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 20,500 Honda Lawn Mowers. The lawn mower’s rear shield can break off allowing debris to be thrown toward the operator, which poses a laceration hazard to consumers.
bullet Shoelace and Necklace Children's Charms Recalled by Action Products International Due to Risk of Lead Exposure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Action Products International Inc., of Ocala, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 18,500 Children's Charm Craft Kits. The clasp in the charm craft kits contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Parragon Books Ltd., of United Kingdom, is voluntarily recalling about 500,000 Children's Necklaces with Ballet Shoes Charms. Solder on the charm of the necklace may contain high levels of lead, which if ingested by young children can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Black Cat® Fireworks Recalls Fireworks Due to Injury Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Black Cat Fireworks, of Prairie Village, Kan., is voluntarily recalling about 20,000 Screech and Scream Fountain Fireworks. The firework can produce a loud bang and unexpectedly scatter debris, posing an injury hazard to the user and bystanders.

The children’s jewelry could contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Bayside Furnishings Recalls Youth Bed Toy Chests Sold at Costco After the Death of a 22-Month-Old Child
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bayside Furnishings (a division of Whalen™), of San Diego, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 9,350 LaJolla Boat Bed and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Beds. The lid supports on the toy chests fail to prevent the lid from closing too quickly, posing an entrapment and strangulation hazard to young children.
