bullet Generac Power Systems Inc. Recalls Engines to Replace Fuel Tanks Due to Risk of Fire
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Generac Power Systems Inc., of Waukesha, Wis., is voluntarily recalling about 700 Generac Power Engines. The plastic fuel tanks can leak. If an ignition source is present, a fire or explosion can occur.
bullet Meijer Recalls Glass Candleholders for Fire and Laceration Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Meijer, of Grand Rapids, Mich., is voluntarily recalling about 6,500 Clear Glass Candleholders. The glue connecting the candleholder could fail causing the candleholder to fall apart. This poses a fire and laceration hazard to consumers.
bullet Deere & Co. Recall Compact Utility Tractors for Seat Belt Bracket Failure Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Deere & Co., of Moline, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 2,800 Utility Tractors. The seat bracket to which the seat belt is attached could have been positioned incorrectly during the manufacturing process resulting in a poor weld. In a tractor roll over, the weight of the operator could cause the bracket to break off of the seat's pivot plate.
bullet Children's Lamp Sold at The Home Depot® Recalled for Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Emess Design Group LLC, of Ellwood City, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 9,500 children's Lamps. The glass window of the fire truck and bulldozer night light can become dislodged, fall and shatter into small pieces. This poses a laceration hazard and a serious risk of injury if ingested by a small child.
bullet Bunn-O-Matic Corp. Expands Recall of Home Coffeemakers Due to Burn and Fire Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bunn-O-Matic Corp., of Springfield, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 561,000 coffeemakers. The coffeemaker's plastic pour-in bowl and lid can melt or ignite due to an electrical failure, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers.
bullet American Suzuki Motor Corp. Recalls All-Terrain Vehicles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Suzuki Motor Corp., of Brea, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 300 Suzuki 2006 Model Year Eiger ATVs. The mounting brackets used to secure the left-front suspension arm to the ATV frame may not have been welded completely and could break off during riding. If this occurs the rider could lose control of the ATV and crash, posing a risk of serious injury or death.

bullet IKEA Home Furnishings Announce Recall to Repair Folding Chair Beds and Sofa Beds for Finger Tip Amputation Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), IKEA Home Furnishings, of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 LYCKSELE Chair Beds and Sofa Beds. Fingers can become caught in the folding mechanism of the chair bed/sofa bed, posing a laceration and/or amputation hazard.
bullet Hair Dryers Recalled for Electrocution Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Style Tronics Inc., of Vernon, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 19,300 "Monica" and "Turbo 1200" Hand-Held Hair Dryers. These electric hair dryers are not equipped with an immersion protection plug to prevent electrocution if the hair dryer falls into water. Such electric shock protection devices are required by industry standards for all electric hand-held hair dryers.
bullet Suunto Dive Computers Recalled Due to Decompression Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Suunto Oy, of Finland, is voluntarily recalling about 3,900 Suunto D9 and D6 Model Wristop Dive Computers. These dive computers could incorrectly track dive time, which could cause incorrect calculation of decompression requirements. This could lead to decompression sickness.
bullet Plastic Hardware Covers on Children's Furniture Recalled for Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hold Everything, of San Francisco, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 3,200 pieces of children's furniture in the Homeroom Bedroom Collection. The small cam lock covers can be easily removed, presenting a choking hazard to young children.
bullet Humidifiers Recalled for Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hunter Fan Co., of Memphis, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 29,000 Warm Mist CareFree® Humidifiers. Water from the humidifier can leak into the unit's electrical compartment posing a fire hazard.
bullet Nancy Nord Becomes Acting Chairman of CPSC
Effective today, Nancy Nord assumes the position of Acting Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Ms. Nord was appointed by President George W. Bush to be a Commissioner at CPSC and was sworn into office on May 5, 2005. Her term as Commissioner expires in October 2012.
bullet Bear Archery Recalls Compound Crossbows Due to Faulty Trigger Mechanisms
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bear Archery, of Gainesville, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 2,000 Fred Bear F-Series and Outfitter Compound Crossbows. The triggers on these crossbows could fire when the safety mechanism is moved from "safe" to "fire" position without pulling the trigger. Bystanders could be unintentionally hit by an arrow fired by these bows.
bullet Ryobi Radial Arm Saws Recalled for Blade Detachment Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Ryobi Motor Products Corp. formerly of Anderson, S.C. ("RMP"); Ryobi Electric Tool Manufacturing, Inc. formerly of Chandler, Ariz.; and Ryobi Limited, of Hiroshima, Japan, are voluntarily recalling about 145,000 Ryobi Radial Arm Saws. Cracking of the plastic motor housing can cause the blade assembly to fall during operation, posing a risk of laceration to the operator or bystanders. The detachment may occur unexpectedly and without warning.
bullet Family Dollar Inc. to Pay Civil Penalty for Failure to Report Hazardous Electric Blankets
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Family Dollar Inc., of Matthews, N.C. has agreed to pay a $100,000 civil penalty to settle allegations that the company failed to report defects with electric blankets. The penalty has been provisionally accepted by the Commission.
bullet Sportsstuff Wego Kite Tubes Withdrawn from Market after Reports of Deaths and Injuries
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sportsstuff, Inc., of Omaha, Nebraska is voluntarily recalling about 19,000 Wego Kite Tubes. CPSC staff is aware of 39 injury incidents with 29 of those resulting in medical treatment. Sportsstuff has received reports of two deaths in the United States and a variety of serious injuries. Sportsstuff has been unable to determine the cause of the incidents.
bullet Shimano American Corp. Recalls Quick-Release Device for Bicycles Posing Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shimano Inc., of Osaka, Japan, is voluntarily recalling about 8,500 Release Devices. The quick release skewers can unexpectedly fail or break when locked in position. When this happens the rider could lose control and fall.
bullet M2Racer LLC Recalls Bicycle Headsets for Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), M2Racer LLC, of Burlingame, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 150 Conventional and Integrated Lite Headsets. The headsets mount to bicycle frames and fasten to the front fork assembly. A protruding component of the headset can contact the steering tube of the front fork assembly, score or scratch the steering tube, and weaken the structural integrity of the front fork. The front fork could break, causing the handlebars to separate from the bicycle during use and result in a crash.
bullet Office Chairs Sold at Wal-Mart Recalled for Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Ark., is voluntarily recalling about 762,000 Office Chairs. The legs and backs of these chairs can break, and the chairs can easily tip over, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
bullet Husqvarna Outdoor Products Inc. Recalls Lawn Tractors for Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Husqvarna Outdoor Products Inc., of Augusta, Ga., formerly known as Electrolux Outdoor Products Inc., is voluntarily recalling about 174,000 Lawn Tractors. The fuel line on these lawn tractors can separate from the fuel tank outlet. If this occurs, fuel will spill out, posing a fire hazard.
bullet Felt Bicycles Announce Recall to Repair Mountain Bicycles for Brake Failure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Felt Bicycles, of Lake Forest, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 700 Felt Mountain Bicycles. The steel brake boss can detach from the frame, causing the rider to lose control and fall.
bullet Lexar JumpDrive® Computer Storage Devices Recalled for Burn Hazard, Certain Models Involved
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lexar Media Inc., of Fremont, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 66,000 Lexar JumpDrive® FireFly and 1GB Secure II flash drives. The recalled JumpDrives® FireFly and Secure II products could overheat, posing a risk of burns to consumers and property damage.
bullet Home Fragrance Holdings, Inc. Recalls Candles Sold at Pier 1 Imports Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Home Fragrance Holdings Inc., Houston, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 413,000 Cement Candles. The candles can unexpectedly flare, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
bullet Small World Toys Recalls Toy Vehicles for Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Small World Toys, of Culver City, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 92,300 vehicles in the IQ Baby Pillow Soft Activity Blocks, IQ Baby Traveling' Train Blocks, IQ Baby Vroom Vroom Vehicles and Discovery Channel Vroom Vroom Vehicles. The plastic wheels on the toys can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet Tiffany and Company Recalls Paloma Rattles for Aspiration, Laceration Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tiffany and Company, of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 47 Paloma Rattles. Seams on the rattle can open during use, releasing small round beads. The beads can pose an aspiration hazard to young children. The breakage also can create ragged edges on the ring, posing a laceration hazard.
bullet Heat & Glo Indoor/Outdoor Gas Fireplaces Recalled for Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Heat & Glo, of Lakeville, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 1,550 Heat & Glo Twilight II and IIB Gas Fireplaces. Temperatures in the framing header area above these fireplaces can get too high, posing a fire hazard.
bullet Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recalls All-Terrain Vehicles for Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Recreational Products, of Quebec, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 11,300 Bombardier Model Year 2006 Outlander 650 and 800 ATVs and Can-AM Model Year 2007 Outlander 650 ATVs. The operator could ride with their foot engaging the rear brake without noticing. This can cause the rear brake to overheat and possibly ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
