bullet Pelagic Recalls Digital Dive Computers Due to Decompression Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pelagic Pressure Systems, of San Leandro, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2,800 Oceanic and AERIS Digital Dive Computers. When performing a switch from one gas to another during a dive, the dive computer’s display will lock up and not return to the main dive screen that displays dive times. This can cause divers to enter decompression unknowingly or the diver could ascend prematurely, resulting in decompression sickness.
bullet Mirraco Recalls Bicycles Due to Wheel Fork Failure Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Mirraco LLC, of Carlsbad, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 11,000 Mirraco Bicycles. The front wheel forks on these bicycles could have been welded improperly. This poses a risk that the weld could fail, and the rider could lose control and fall.
bullet Sportcraft Recalls Inflatable Bounce Houses Due to Impact Injury Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sportcraft Ltd., of Mt. Olive, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 2,600 Bounce Houses. The fan and the plastic housing surrounding the fan can break apart during use of the inflatable bounce house, posing a risk of impact injury to consumers.
bullet Children’s Rings Sold at Big Lots! Stores Recalled By Lari Jewelry Company Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lari Jewelry Co., of New Orleans, La., is voluntarily recalling about 115,000 “Claudia Jublot” Children’s Rings sold at Big Lots! Stores. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Children’s Jewelry Sold Exclusively at Kmart Recalled by Crimzon Rose Accessories Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Crimzon Rose Accessories, of North Providence, R.I., is voluntarily recalling about 6,000 Children’s “Kidsite” Necklace and Earring Sets sold exclusively at Kmart. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Safety Alert: CFM U.S. Corp. Multi-Purpose Gas Lighters Sold at Wal-Mart Lack Safety Warning Labels
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), CFM U.S. Corp., of Huntington, Ind., is issuing a Public Safety Notice involving about 1.8 million Multi-Purpose Gas Lighters. The lighters do not have a label in English containing precautionary information concerning the proper use and operation. Failure to follow the instructions in the warning label could result in injury.
bullet Gel Candles Recalled By M & A Global Technologies Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), M & A Global Technologies Inc., doing business as Spa at Home, of Tallahassee, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 1,700 Gel Candles. The candles can have excessive flame height, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
bullet Best Buy Co. Inc. Recalls Remote Controls Used With Insignia DVD Players Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Best Buy Co. Inc., of Richfield, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 10,000 Remote Controls Sold With Insignia 100W DVD Compact Shelf System. If the batteries are placed backwards in the remote control with the positive and negative sides improperly switched, overheating can result and present a burn hazard.
bullet Tap Machine Inc. Recalls Sake Warmers Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tap Machine Inc., of New Rochelle, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 2,000 Sake Warmers. These sake warmers can unexpectedly spray hot sake on consumers during use, posing a risk of serious burns.
bullet Tankless Water Heaters Recalled for Repair Due to Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Water Heating Division of Rheem Sales Company Inc., of Montgomery, Ala. and Paloma Industries Inc., of Oxnard, Calif., are voluntarily recalling about 42,200 Power Vent tankless water heaters. Components inside the water heater may shift during transit, causing an air filter door switch to operate improperly. If the switch fails and the air filter door is out of place, the water heater could continue to operate and dust and lint could build up, posing a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard.
bullet CPSC Corrects Record on Vinyl Lunchboxes
Recent news reports and postings on special interest group Web sites have provided information that incorrectly interprets the findings of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in testing vinyl lunchboxes. In 2005, CPSC staff scientists tested 60 soft, vinyl lunchboxes. The staff tested the inside and outside surfaces of lunchboxes and found no instances of hazardous levels.
bullet Currey & Company Recalls Lamps Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Currey & Company, of Atlanta, Ga., is voluntarily recalling about 2,600 Thomasville Table and Floor Lamps. The light socket has a defect, which poses electrical shock and fire hazards.
bullet Jazwares Inc. Recalls Link-N-Lite™ Magnetic Puzzles, Ingested Magnets Pose Aspiration and Intestinal Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Jazwares, Inc. of Sunrise, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 30,000 Link-N-Lite™ Magnetic Light-Up Puzzles. Small magnets used to connect the puzzle pieces can fall out. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal.
bullet Fisher-Price Recalls “Laugh and Learn” Bunny Toys Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Fisher-Price, of East Aurora, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 500,000 (an additional 700,000 were sold worldwide) “Laugh and Learn” Learning Bunny Toys. The pink pompom nose can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet Zoeller Pump Co. Recalls Septic Pumps Due to Shock Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Zoeller Pump Co., of Louisville, Ky., is voluntarily recalling about 2,300 Zoeller Brand Septic Pumps with a 20-foot black cord with a plug. The plug on the pumps could have a grounding problem that could pose an electrical shock hazard to consumers.
bullet Basix U.S.A. Recalls Children’s Hooded Sweatshirts and Windbreakers with Drawstrings Due to Strangulation Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Vacation Clothing, doing business as Basix U.S.A., of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 20,000 Children’s Hooded Sweatshirts and Windbreakers with Drawstrings. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
bullet Samara Brothers Recalls Boys’ Jackets Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Samara Brothers LLC, of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 8,000 Heavyweight Outerwear Jackets. The snap closures on the outerwear jackets contain excessive amounts of lead, which poses a lead poisoning hazard.
bullet Battery Packs for Toy Vehicles Recalled by JAKKS Pacific Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), JAKKS Pacific Inc., of Malibu, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 245,000 Battery Packs for Toy Vehicles. The lithium-ion polymer batteries used to charge the toy vehicles can ignite while charging, posing a fire hazard.
bullet Atmel Corp. Recalls to Upgrade Software in Microcontrollers of Honeywell® Digital Cellular Communicators
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Atmel Corp., of San Jose, Calif. and the security business of Honeywell International, located in Syosset, N.Y., are voluntarily recalling about 4,000 Atmel Microcontrollers used in Honeywell Digital Cellular Communicators. The microcontroller in the communicator can enter an unrecoverable lock-up state due to a programming issue. The lock-up could result in a service interruption, and fail to transmit an alarm signal in the event of a fire or property invasion.
bullet Toddler Pants Sets Sold Exclusively at Meijer Stores Recalled for Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), G & W Industries Inc., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 1,800 Toddler Pants Sets. The zipper pull on the jacket can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet HSN LP Recalls Bella Cucina “Zip Cookers” Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), HSN LP (previously referred to as the Home Shopping Network), of St. Petersburg, Fla., is voluntarily recalling about 8,300 Bella Cucina Brand “Zip Cooker” Low Pressure Cookers. Hot food under pressure can be expelled from the cooker causing burn injuries.
bullet Children’s Bracelets Recalled by DM Merchandising Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DM Merchandising Inc., of Elmhurst, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 86,400 Children’s “Ultra Gear” Bracelets. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Shalom International Corp., of New York, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 280,000 Children’s “Rachael Rose Kidz” Rings. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Conair Recalls Curling Irons for Shock and Electrocution Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Conair Corp., of Stamford, Conn., is voluntarily recalling about 322,000 Curling Irons. The handle of the curling iron can come apart exposing its line cord, posing a shock or electrocution hazard to consumers.
bullet LL Bean Recalls Infant Booties Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), L.L. Bean, of Freeport, Maine, is voluntarily recalling about 4,400 Faux-Shearling Infant Booties. A small metal zipper tab on the infant booties can detach posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet Easy-Bake Ovens Recalled for Repair Due to Entrapment and Burn Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Easy-Bake, a division of Hasbro, Inc., of Pawtucket, R.I., is voluntarily recalling about 985,000 Easy-Bake Ovens. Young children can insert their hands into the oven’s opening and get their hands or fingers caught, posing an entrapment and burn hazard.
bullet IKEA Recalls Vases Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), IKEA Home Furnishings, of Conshohocken, Pa., is voluntarily recalling about 110,000 nationwide (and about 767,000 more worldwide) PARODI Glass Floor Vases. The base of these vases can break off unexpectedly, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.
bullet Maytag Recalls Dishwashers Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Maytag Corp., of Newton, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling about 2.3 million Maytag® and Jenn-Air® brand dishwashers. Liquid rinse-aid can leak from its dispenser and come into contact with the dishwasher’s internal wiring which can short-circuit and ignite, posing a fire hazard.
