bullet The Holmes Group Recalls Oil-Filled Electric Heaters Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), The Holmes Group, of Milford, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 300,000 Holmes® Oil-Filled Electric Heaters. A poor electrical connection within the heater can lead to overheating. This poses fire and thermal burn hazards.
bullet Polaris Industries Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Loss of Control Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 2,700 Model Year 2006 FS Classic, FS Touring, FST Classic, FST Touring and FST Switchback Snowmobiles. The right and left front suspension shock towers can separate due to inadequate welding during the manufacturing process. Separation of the welded joints can result in stiffer steering or the shock mount failing suddenly, causing the rider to lose control of the snowmobile and crash.
bullet Acer America Corporation Recalls Notebook Computer Batteries Due to Previous Fires
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Acer America Corporation, of San Jose, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 27,000 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries containing Sony-made cells used in Acer notebook computers. The lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

In recognizing National Playground Safety Week, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is encouraging parents to make sure backyard, childcare center and community playgrounds are safe and that children are always supervised while at play.
bullet Coby Electronics Recalls Boomboxes Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Coby Electronics Corp., of Maspeth, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 13,800 Coby-Brand USB/MP3/CD Boomboxes. When left plugged into an electrical outlet and the off switch is not firmly in place, these boomboxes can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
bullet iObjectSolutions Inc. Recalls Pre-Lit Palm Trees Due to Shock, Fire Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), iObjectSolutions Inc., of Cumming, Ga. is voluntarily recalling about 1,200 Pre-Lit Palm Trees. If the electrical connectors are not fully inserted, they can overheat and pose electric shock and fire hazards.
bullet Magnetix Magnetic Building Set Recall Expanded
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Mega Brands America, Inc. (“Mega Brands”) (the new owner of Rose Art Industries, Inc.) is voluntarily recalling in excess of 4 million Magnetix Magnetic Building Sets. If a child swallows more than one tiny powerful magnet detached from the plastic building pieces or one such magnet and a metallic object, the objects can attract to each other inside the intestines and cause perforations and/or blockage, which can be fatal, if not treated immediately.
bullet Small Magnets Are Injuring Children; CPSC Releases Stronger Warning to Parents
CPSC is aware of hundreds of complaints that magnets have fallen out of various toys and at least 33 cases where children swallowed loose magnets and required emergency surgery. In addition, a 20-month-old boy from Seattle, Wash. died.
bullet Infant Bouncer Seats Recalled Due to Frame Failure
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Oeuf LLC, of Brooklyn, N.Y, is voluntarily recalling about 1,400 Infant Bouncer Seats. The tubular metal frame can break, posing a fall hazard to infants in the seat.
bullet Tequila Rose Distilling Co. Recalls Gel Candles Due To Fire and Burn Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), McCormick Distilling Co., doing business as Tequila Rose Distilling Co., of Weston, Mo., is voluntarily recalling about 60,000 Tequila Rose Strawberry Cream candle sets. The martini glass containing the gel candle can break while the candle is burning, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
bullet Hunter’s View Expands Recall of Safety Harnesses Sold with Tree Stands, Also Recalls Harnesses Provided as Replacements
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hunter’s View, of Peoria, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 200,000 additional harnesses (about 500,000 were recalled in April 2005). The harnesses could fail during use, resulting in a hunter falling from the tree stand and suffering serious injuries or death.
bullet Lamson & Sessions Recalls Floor Electrical Outlets Due to Shock or Electrocution Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lamson & Sessions, of Cleveland, Ohio, is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 Carlon® Drop-In Floor Boxes. The recalled floor boxes are wired incorrectly resulting in reverse polarity. This poses a shock or electrocution hazard to consumers.
bullet Life is good® Children’s Sweatshirts Recalled by RedEnvelope; Garments Have Drawstrings, Pose Strangulation Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), RedEnvelope is voluntarily recalling about 1,200 Life is good® Children’s Sweatshirts. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
bullet 900,000 Children’s Necklaces and Charm Bracelets Recalled by Cardinal Distributing Co. Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cardinal Distributing Co., of Baltimore, Md., is voluntarily recalling about 900,000 Children’s Charm Bracelets and “Sportswear” Necklaces. The paint on this jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Disney Store Recalls Children’s Footed Pajamas Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Disney Stores North America, of Pasadena, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 200 Baby Einstein Caterpillar Sleepwear and Baby Einstein Duck Sleepwear pajamas. This sleepwear fails to meet the children’s flammability standard, posing a risk of burn injury to children.
bullet DreamWorks Animation SKG Recalls Shrek Headbands Due to Injury Hazard; Giveaway Product Distributed To Pepsi Employees
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DreamWorks Animation SKG, of Glendale, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 6,000 Shrek Ears Headbands. A small wire can protrude through the fabric of the ears on these headbands, posing a risk of cuts to consumers
bullet Flat Panel TV Tilt-Mount Brackets Recalled by Circuit City Stores Inc. Due to Risk of Falling Units
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Circuit City Stores Inc., of Richmond, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 9,900 “Verge” Flat Panel Television Tilt-Mount Brackets. If upward force is applied to a mounted television, the bracket’s lock bar could unfasten. This could cause the television to fall and injure bystanders.
bullet Small World Toys Recalls Children’s Wooden Sound Puzzles with Knobs for Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Small World Toys, of Culver City, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 78,500 “Sounds on the Farm” and “Sounds on the Go” puzzles. The knobs on the recalled puzzle pieces can come off, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet SRAM Corp. Recalls Bicycle Brake Caliper Sets Due to Crash Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), SRAM Corp., of Chicago, Ill, is voluntarily recalling about 5,400 SRAM Force Road Brake Caliper Sets. The brake caliper sets could break and detach from the bicycle’s fork or frame. This could cause the rider to lose control and crash.
bullet Gemmy Industries Corp. Recalls Disney Plush Easter Baskets Sold at Wal-Mart Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gemmy Industries Corp., of Coppell, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 8,500 Disney Princesses Easter Baskets. Silver beads and ribbons attached to the basket can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet NY Thermal Inc. Recalls to Repair Gas-Fired Hot Water Boilers Due to Carbon Monoxide Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), NY Thermal Inc., of Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 4,800 NTI Trinity Gas-Fired Hot Water Boilers. Acidic liquid in a drain line can cause a fitting in the boiler to leak, posing a risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning to consumers.
bullet Aviv Judaica Imports and Ahron’s Judaica Recall Chanukah Candles Due To Fire and Burn Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Aviv Judaica Imports Ltd., of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ahron’s Judaica, of Brooklyn, N.Y., are voluntarily recalling about 9,000 Chanukah Oil Candles. The oil candles can become engulfed in flames and melt the plastic cups holding the candles in place, allowing hot wax to leak out, which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.
bullet Sears Warns Consumers to Remove Label from Craftsman Circular Saws, Obstructed Blade Guard Poses Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sears, of Hoffman Estates, Ill., is voluntarily warning consumers to remove labels from about 308,000 Craftsman Circular Saws. The “Craftsman” logo label located on the upper blade guard can become partially detached and interfere with the proper operation of the lower blade guard, exposing the saw’s blade and posing a laceration hazard to consumers.
bullet Target Recalls Activity Cart Toys Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target, of Minneapolis, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 18,500 Little Tree Wood Activity Cart Toys. The orange hubcaps on the wheel of the cart can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
bullet Intex Recreation Corp. Recalls Ladders for Above-Ground Pools Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Intex Recreation Corp., of Long Beach, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 466,000 "Intex®,” “Easy Set®” and “Sand N Sun™” Above-Ground Pool Ladders. The ladder’s plastic steps can be assembled backward on the support brackets. If this happens, the ladder steps can break and the user can fall.
bullet OKK Trading Recalls Baby Dolls Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), OKK Trading Inc., of Commerce, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 3,500 “Lovely Baby” and “Happy Baby” dolls. These dolls contain small parts, which can pose a choking hazard to young children.
bullet Various Metal Key Chains Recalled by Dollar General for Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dollar General Merchandising, Inc., of Goodlettsville, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 396,000 Metal Key Chains. The key chains contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet A&A Global Industries Recalls Children’s Bracelets Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), A&A Global Industries, of Cockeysville, Md., is voluntarily recalling about 4 million Children’s “Groovy Grabber” Bracelets. The paint on the metallic band beneath the decorative cover contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
bullet Mastex Recalls Foot Warmer Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Mastex Industries LLC, of Petersburg, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 3,000 Mastex Twin Foot Warmers. The wiring in the foot warmer has a defect which can cause it to overheat. This poses a burn hazard to consumers.
