Lawson Aquatics Recalls Certain Pool Drain Covers Due to Incorrect Rating; Covers Pose Possible Entrapment Hazard to Swimmers
The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Pool drain covers
Units: About 11,940 (73 units distributed)
Manufacturer: Lawson Aquatics, of Naples, Fla.
Hazard: The recalled drain covers were incorrectly rated to handle the flow of water through the cover, which could pose a possible entrapment hazard to swimmers and bathers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported
Description: The recall involves various pool and spa drain covers that can be identified by Lawson's name and model information on the cover. The recall involves covers with model numbers: MLD-FGD-1818, MLD-GOD-1818, MLD-SG-1818, FI-SG-181818, FI-SG-181824.
Sold through: Independent distributors to professional pool and spa builders and installers.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Pool owners/operators and consumers who have one of the recalled pool or spa drain covers should immediately contact the manufacturer to receive a replacement or retrofit, depending on their drain cover make and model.
