Ross Stores Recalls Benches Due to Fall Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: 39” St. Anne Acacia Benches
Units: About 225
Importer: Ross Stores Inc., of Pleasanton, Calif.
Hazard: The bench frame can collapse when weight is placed on it, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Ross Stores has received two reports of incidents but no reports of injuries.
Description: The benches are made of acacia wood with SKU 400037765413 and manufacturer style number GB1F printed on a hangtag attached to the bench. The acacia wood benches measure 39” wide, 20” deep and 36” high.
Sold at: Ross Stores nationwide in March 2009 for about $90.
Manufactured in: Vietnam
Remedy: Consumers should stop using these benches immediately and return them to any Ross Store for a full refund.
