Pier 1 Imports Retira del Mercado Muebles para Televisor por Peligro de Inclinación
WASHINGTON, DC- En cooperación con la Comisión para la Seguridad de los Productos de Consumo de los Estados Unidos (CPSC, por sus siglas en inglés), Pier 1 Imports (U.S.) de Forth Worth, Texas, está retirando del mercado voluntariamente 4,300 muebles para televisor marca Ming. Si un consumidor se recuesta de la gaveta del mueble cuando está abierta, la unidad puede inclinarse hacia el frente y causar que el televisor sobre esta se deslice lo que presenta un riesgo de lesión o muerte.
Pier 1 no ha recibido ningún reporte de lesiones en los Estados Unidos. Sin embargo, Pier 1 ha recibido un reporte de la muerte de un niño pequeño en Canadá la cual ocurrió cuando el televisor se cayó del mueble para televisor
El mueble para televisor marca Ming es un gabinete de madera color marrón que se apoya directamente sobre el piso y mide 35 1/2 pulgadas de ancho, 17 3/4 pulgadas de profundidad y 23 1/2 pulgadas de alto. El mueble para televisor contiene un área abierta para almacenamiento entre la tablilla superior y la gaveta inferior.
Los consumidores deben remover inmediatamente los televisores y otros artículos pesados de estos muebles para televisores. Los muebles deben ser devueltos a las tiendas Pier 1 Imports para recibir un reembolso o un crédito para mercancía.

Federal law bars any person from selling products subject to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission.
