Units: About 88,000

Importers: DESA Heating Products, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Scheu Manufacturing Co., of Upland, Calif.

Hazard: The plastic ring on the heater's regulator can crack, causing gas to leak out if the propane tank and heater regulator are turned on. This can create a fire hazard if an ignition source is present.

Incidents/Injuries: The firms have received four reports of incidents involving minor burns to the hand and two cases of minor property damage.

Description: DESA and Scheu portable propane infrared (tank top) heaters with the following model names and number are involved in this recall: All-Pro (SPC-15R & SPC-30R), Reddy Heater (HD15A & HD30A) and MASTER (TT15A & TT30A). This recall involves only heaters made in China with the serial numbers listed above and does not include those made in Mexico or in China with different serial numbers. The heaters made in Mexico have the same or similar model numbers, but show "Made in Mexico" on the carton and warning label and use the prefix "M" in the serial number. There have been no problems with the Mexican heaters and they are not to be returned.
