CPSC, Advanced Catalyst Systems, LLC Announce Recall to Repair Cheftech Gas Grills
The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Cheftech Signature Series Grill Model#CT001
Importer: Advanced Catalyst Systems, LLC.
Manufacturer: CSPS Metal Co. of Taiwan.
Hazard: Advanced Catalyst Systems independently discovered that sustained strong winds blowing into the back scoop of the hood can force hot exhaust through the control panel and could cause it to overheat. If the front panel overheats, it can compromise the integrity of the gas valve assembly, which could cause a fire.
Description: The grills included in the safety retrofit are Cheftech Signature Series Grill Model#CT001 starting with Serial # 001 and ending with #030. Serial numbers are denoted on the Rating Plate pictured below. Identifying marks include the Rating Plate label on the back. These are 30,000 BTU LP or NG stainless steel grills. The grill has a rotisserie spit and motor. Other model Cheftech gas grills are not included in the recall.
Sold By/at: Advanced Catalyst Systems, LLC (at 6 regional retail stores) in Knoxville, TN prior to March 17, 2005 for $1,800.
Manufactured in: Taiwan
Remedy: Stop using the grill and immediately contact Advanced Catalyst Systems, LLC to arrange to receive a free, consumer-installed safety retrofit kit. ACS has already notified known purchasers about this safety alert. All grills associated with this recall have been corrected.
