La CPSC y Playskool Anuncian la Retirada del Mercado de los Juguetes "Magic Start Crawl 'n Stand" Vendidos Solamente en Wal-Mart
WASHINGTON, D.C. - En cooperación con la Comisión para la Seguridad de los Productos de Consumo de los Estados Unidos (CPSC), Playskool, de Pawtucket, Rhode Island, está voluntariamente retirando del mercado aproximadamente 300,000 juguetes "Magic Start Crawl 'n Stand." Este juguete fue diseñado para alentar a que, un niño que gatea, se sostenga de él y se levante. Pero, este juguete puede voltearse durante su uso y golpear a un bebé en la cabeza, cara o cuello; resultando en lesiones.
Playskool ha recibido 44 reportes de juguetes que se han volteado durante su uso. Han habido 26 reportes de niños que han sufrido lesiones, incluyendo una conmoción cerebral secundaria y varios golpes, moretones, ojos amoratados y labios cortados.
"Magic Start Crawl 'n Stand" de la marca Playskool® es un juguete de plástico multicolor con una base redonda y tres patas arqueadas que sostienen un centro de actividades electrónico. Cuando un bebé gateando se acerca y toca el marco del juguete, la música, las luces y unas bolas dando vueltas se activan. Los bebés pueden jalarse hacia arriba ellos mismos y subirse a las patas del juguete para jugar con el centro de actividades. El logotipo de Playskool está impreso en la base plástica y en la parte superior del centro de actividades. La escritura en la parte inferior del mismo dice: " ITEM#06952" y "Made in China."
Las tiendas Wal-Mart vendieron estos juguetes en toda la nación de noviembre del 2002 hasta abril del 2003 por aproximadamente $14.

Federal law bars any person from selling products subject to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission.
