OCTOBER 14, 2011

October 13-14, 2011

The 4th Biennial United States-China Consumer Product Safety Summit between the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) was held in Washington, D.C., on October 13-14, 2011. Under the leadership of Chairman Inez Tenenbaum, the Summit agenda was organized around activities undertaken since the last Summit was held in China in October 2009.

In addition to policy discussions, the Summit agenda included discussions of product-specific safety issues in particular areas such as children’s products, all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s), cigarette lighters, fireworks, heavy metals in paint and component parts, clothing, and toys. Other initiatives, such as cluster training for manufacturers, international tracking labels, and standards alignment were also up for discussion.
